While serving as County Commissioner, I made sure county property taxes were reduced by seven percent. These reductions saved our taxpayers over $10 million.
As County Commissioner, we have allotted $500,000 to increase school safety initiatives and allowed over $1 million for educational funding. I will also support the School Board in its continued protection of our children.
Managing growth is always tough, but it is a necessary part of our job. We have successfully partnered with the Sate of North Carolina to ensure that the infrastructure needed on the 421 Corridor, that has eluded us for decades and is now a reality I helped craft the Comprehensive Land Use Plan and the Uniformed Development Ordinance, which is being tweaked now.. My now implemented Storm Water Plan will help alleviate flooding issues. Decisions like these are what "smart growth" is all about.SAFE DRINKING WATER
New Hanover County led the efforts to get Chemours to the table and engage our local, state, and federal leaders to work together toward a solution. I am still determined to get answers and I will. Much work remains to be done, and I will keep doing all I can to ensure that we always have clean and safe water to drink.
